7th Grade Rocket Launching: This project provides students with hands-on opportunity to apply scientific concepts in a meaningful way. This year, they used a larger engine, which came with its own challenges, as the rockets traveled much farther than they did last year. Mrs. Woodside said, "I thoroughly enjoyed guiding them through the process, and I hope each student walked away with a deeper understanding of Newton's three laws, physics, engineering, and the value of learning through experimentation."

After School Program
On November 14, the Spiro JOM program commemorated Native November with an educational presentation conducted by representatives of the Choctaw Nation. During the event, students were instructed in counting from one to five in the Choctaw language, learned about the historical use of stickball as a means of resolving conflicts in place of warfare, and were introduced to several traditional weapons and hunting tools along with explanations of their construction. The presentation was highly informative, and all participants found the experience enriching.
